How to maximize solar panel output
Dirty solar panels are the most underestimated cause of output loss. Pollen, bird droppings, dust and algae reduce light absorption by up to 30%.
Clean your panels 1–2 times a year, ideally in early spring and after summer. An extra clean may be worthwhile after a long dry spell.
Use only purified water and soft brushes. Tap water leaves limescale deposits that further reduce light absorption.
Check production in your inverter app monthly. A sudden drop of 10% or more without cloud cover is a clear sign cleaning is needed.
Combine cleaning with a visual inspection: check cables are secure, no visible cracks in cells, and mounting brackets are intact.
Professional cleaning pays off: the cost of one clean is recovered in 3–5 months through higher electricity production.
