Oil stains on your driveway: how to tackle them professionally
·4 min
Oil stains on concrete and paving bricks are one of the most common questions about driveway cleaning.
Fresh stains are easier: immediately pour cat litter or sawdust on a fresh stain to absorb the oil.
Old stains require pre-treatment: use a concentrated alkaline degreaser, leave for 15–20 minutes and scrub mechanically before using the pressure washer.
What never works: burning petrol, hot water without degreaser, regular dish soap — these spread the stain.
Professional approach: at Solarwash we use a specialist degreaser combined with a rotating high-pressure nozzle.
Prevention: consider an impregnation layer after cleaning to make concrete water-repellent.
